This may not have anything to do with drumming but I just thought I'd say that I've just been to the best concert I've ever been to- TAKE 6, in Birmingham, UK!! Man, these are the ultimate musicians in the world.
They are such a witness to the world for Jesus Christ. They are the best a capella group- hands down. They performed their classics as well as some newer songs.
The masterclass was really interesting as you could see how they arrange their parts in to six part harmony which was brill! Cedric Dent- (a doctor in music!)is a master on the piano and at arranging the songs.
These guys are such an inspiration. No wonder they are so highly respected in the music industry.

By any chance, did they perform "A Mighty Fortress Is..."?

I've seen a video of this [& also have an mp3 on disc somewhere] that is just phenOMenal - I'm pretty sure it's "the 6"

These cats are the greatest!!! I have seen them several times and have never been dissappointed. Extrordinary musicianship and connection with their audience. PT

They didn't do that one, what album's that off? Listen to "God Rest ye Merry Gentleman" off "He is Christmas", as that has the Yellowjackets on it and is the best thing I've ever heard.

I loved hearing them sing "Revelation" on the Yellowjackets' live disk "Live Wires"

Damn, I wish I could sing like that! Plus, Will Kennedy is an awsome player & heck of a nice guy to boot!

Wow. I have to pull out my Live Wires disc to hear that, as i had forgotten that they were on that track! Killer.

& you are right - Kennedy kix complete-&-total AXE, IMHO. When the 'Jax reformed [& w him on drums] the lid blew off, & they just opened up "a whole new [level of] sky."

Put bebop/gospel/r&b/african/latin stylings, mix it with heart, soul, & groove into 1 pot, & ya gots the Will-meister. I'd like to hear him w Metheny, Scofield, Camilo, or Rubalcaba...;c)

Fuse, do you know what he is up to lately? I haven't gotten a fix of Will K in a long time.

Hope that helps. This is the only ref i have of his activities lately. Sorry if that's a little obvious or redundant. [You've prob already thought of it.] ;c)

One good thing's for sure, link "shortcuts" like that one [when posted here] usually come right up, very little waiting; for me anyway.

AFA your ?, timwecklfan, it is a renowned & staple/standard hymn -

I have a really nice contempo band version of it from [i think] the 2nd "Promise Keepers" tape [please, let's NOT get into a PK debate, here, as it's not the time or place. I have my own opinions about it AW ;c)] that someone gave me, i believe it might be Chester T on drums[?]

Some essential Jax listening:
_The Spin ['89]
_Greenhouse ['91] $
_Dreamland
_Live Wires ['92]
_Like A River ['93]
_Run For Your Life (...but only if Michael Franks is singin on a live gig with 'em!...I'm just not into him) ;c)['94]
_Blue Hats ['97]
_Club Nocturne ['98]

For the UK guys, I see where some early Nov dates are at Ronnie Scotts...

A lot of that Jackets' stuff gives me the chills. Darn, those guys are great writers/musicians.
